MISS AND MISTER SAO PAULO MUNDO 2012

The new Miss and Mister São Paulo Mundo 2012 are Zaidan Cristina Ribeiro, 24, and Nelson Lara, 21 and 1m91, both representing Sumaré. NEW YEAR, NEW ADDITIONS TO THE VERTICAL FILES

MISS BULAWAYO 2011
University student Bongani Dlakama, 23, is the new Miss Bulawayo. She won the contest on Friday, 19 December 2011. Runners-up were Precious Dube 23, and Valerie Chingonzo, 20. The new Miss Bulawayo takes over from Nadia Gori, Zimbabwe's beauty delegate at Miss Tourism International 2011. Former Miss Zimbabwe and Miss World 1981 semifinalist Juliet Nyathi was guest of honour at the event.

MISS VOLGOGRAD 2011

Irina Barska, 20, won the Miss Volgograd 2011 title on December 25, 2011. Runners-ups were Anastasia Ovchinnikov, 20, and  Elena Karaybog, 17. While all three stunning beauties won tickets to exotic, tropical Goa in India, Irina won a ticket to Miss Russia 2012.

ROSE QUEEN 2012

Tournament of Roses President Richard Jackson officially crowned Queen Drew Washington as the 2012 Rose Queen in Pasadena, CA, on Thursday, 27 October 2011. As Rose Queen 2012, Drew will oversee the annual Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl Game on 02 January 2012.

MISS MALAWI 2011

Susan Mtegha, 24, is the new Miss Malawi 2011. Holding a diploma in Business Information Systems, Susan won the title over 13 other contestants in the wee hours of Saturday, 24 December 2011. First runner-up in the contest was Mayamiko Msosa, 22. Second runner-up was Jacqueline Chimkwita-Phiri, 19.

 MISS UNIVERSE RS 2012 

Miss Teutônia Gabriela Markus, 23, is the new Miss Universe RS (Rio Grande do Sul) 2012. She won the title on December 22, 2011, during a glittering gala held at the Associação Leopoldina Juvenil in Porto Alegre. First runner-up was Miss Pelotas Athena Cunha; second runner-up was Miss Santa Maria Vitória Machado Bisognin; third runner-up was Miss Porto Alegre herself Suélen da Silva Camargo; and fourth runner-up was Miss Osório, Luisa Bastos Nava. 30 women competed for the crown and the right to represent Rio Grande do Sul at Miss Universe Brazil 2012. 

MISS KWANDEBELE 2011

On December 17, 2011, Keletso Reminder Nkadimeng, 18, won the first annual Miss KwaNdebele pageant. Runners-up were Mmapule Ledwaba and Mimmy Skosana. 20 women competed for the title.

YEAR-END ADDITIONS TO THE VERTICAL FILES

Before Lorraine, Beauty School's Librarian, headed out for the holidays, she dropped by Dean Harris' office with a few, end-of-year updates to the library's vertical files. He was in the office, exchanging gifts with Boris, Beauty School's Security Guard, and had a "Do Not Disturb" sign on his massive door knob. So, Lorraine left a note saying,

Miss Las Palmas 2011

Miss Azuaje Esther Pérez Ramón is the new Miss Las Palmas 2011. She won the title last Saturday night, during a glittering ceremony outdoors in Plaza Santa Ana. She beat out 25 other women for the coveted title and will now represent Las Palmas at Miss Spain 2012. First runner-up was was Miss Maspalomas Coral Gutiérrez Paniagua and second runner-up was Miss Pacha Anaís Ramos Ortiz. 

Mister Nicaragua 2011

On 06 December, at the Hilton Hotel in Managua, Mister Matagalpa, Sergio García, 20 and a civil engineer student, beat off 10 other men for the coveted title of Mister Nicaragua 2011. Not only did super stud Sergio win  the Mister Nicaragua 2011 title, but also several sub-titles, including “Mister Sonrisa," “Mister Fotognico,” and “Mister Mejor Cabello.” And this is not to mention “Mister Mejor Cuerpo” first runner-up.

Miss India USA 2011

Royal Albert's Palace in Fords, New Jersey was the venue for the glittering Miss India USA 2011 gala on Saturday, 20 November. 2011. Miss India USA sees young beauties of Indian origin from across the USA compete annually; Emerging victorious this year was Miss India New York Chandan Preeni Kaur, 23 and a business administration student. Her hobbies include painting, travelling and cooking. As Miss India USA 2011, Chandan will now compete for the coveted global title of Miss India Worldwide 2012.

The new Miss and Mister Mundo Ceará were elected last night in Crato, Brazil. The new Miss Mundo Ceará is Ruanna Fernandes, 20. Runners-up were Natalya Braga, 20, and Tarsis Zaire, 17. The  new Mister Mundo Ceará is Bruno Leka, 18. Runners-up for his title were Thiago Bastos, 19, and Vinicius Guerra, 18.

BBB AKA BODY BY BRAZIL

This year's Miss Brazil pageant, as well as this year's Mister Brazil contest, provided ample evidence of the B in Prof. Chandni's ABC theory of the ultimate bikini (or speedo) body - A for Australia, B for Brazil, and C for Croatia. Miss Universe Brazil 2011 Priscila Machado and Mister Piaui 2011 Murilo Rezende join Jennifer Hawkins and Mario Valentic as bodies of evidence for the ABC theory.

MISS BRAZIL 2011

The new Miss Brazil 2011 is Miss Rio Grande do Sul Priscila Machado, 25. She won the coveted title just minutes ago in a glittering televised gala. She will now be the "hometown girl," Brazil's official beauty delegate to Miss Universe 2011. First runner-up in the pageant was Miss Bahia Gabriela Rocha, second runner-up was Miss Acre Daniela Kniedel, third runner-up was Miss Sao Paulo Rafaela Butarelli, and fourth runner-up was Dean Harris' fave, Miss Amazonas Tami Cavalcanti. Also, Dean Harris thought Miss Acre had the best state costume, a tribute to the great environmentalist Chico Mendes.

MISS MINAS GERAIS

The new Miss Minas Gerais 2011 was elected this weekend. She is Izabela Drumond, 24. She will represent her state at the Miss Brazil contest, the winner of which will compete in Miss Universe 2011. Miss Minas Gerais 2011 first runner-up was Miss Vespasiano Andreza Pereira, and Miss Minas Gerais 2011 second runner-up was Miss Lagoa Santa Vânessa Guimarães. A total of 12 women competed for the Miss Minas Gerais 2011 title. A quick geography lesson: Minas Gerais is one of the 26 states of Brazil, of which it is the second most populous, the second richest, and the fourth largest in area.

MISS AND MISTER BAHIA 2011

Earlier this week, Miss and Mister Bahia 2011 were elected. The new Miss Bahia is Paloma Vega, who will now compete in Miss World Brazil 2011. The new Mister Bahia is Caian Souza Silva, who will now compete in Mister Brazil 2011.

The best contests are those that crown the winners in swimsuits! And Brazilians were born to wear swimsuits - the skimpier the better!
