NEW YEAR, NEW ADDITIONS TO THE VERTICAL FILES

MISS BULAWAYO 2011
University student Bongani Dlakama, 23, is the new Miss Bulawayo. She won the contest on Friday, 19 December 2011. Runners-up were Precious Dube 23, and Valerie Chingonzo, 20. The new Miss Bulawayo takes over from Nadia Gori, Zimbabwe's beauty delegate at Miss Tourism International 2011. Former Miss Zimbabwe and Miss World 1981 semifinalist Juliet Nyathi was guest of honour at the event.

MISS VOLGOGRAD 2011
Irina Barska, 20, won the Miss Volgograd 2011 title on December 25, 2011. Runners-ups were Anastasia Ovchinnikov, 20, and  Elena Karaybog, 17. While all three stunning beauties won tickets to exotic, tropical Goa in India, Irina won a ticket to Miss Russia 2012.

ROSE QUEEN 2012
Tournament of Roses President Richard Jackson officially crowned Queen Drew Washington as the 2012 Rose Queen in Pasadena, CA, on Thursday, 27 October 2011. As Rose Queen 2012, Drew will oversee the annual Tournament of Roses Parade and the Rose Bowl Game on 02 January 2012.

MISS MALAWI 2011
Susan Mtegha, 24, is the new Miss Malawi 2011. Holding a diploma in Business Information Systems, Susan won the title over 13 other contestants in the wee hours of Saturday, 24 December 2011. First runner-up in the contest was Mayamiko Msosa, 22. Second runner-up was Jacqueline Chimkwita-Phiri, 19.

 MISS UNIVERSE RS 2012 
Miss Teutônia Gabriela Markus, 23, is the new Miss Universe RS (Rio Grande do Sul) 2012. She won the title on December 22, 2011, during a glittering gala held at the Associação Leopoldina Juvenil in Porto Alegre. First runner-up was Miss Pelotas Athena Cunha; second runner-up was Miss Santa Maria Vitória Machado Bisognin; third runner-up was Miss Porto Alegre herself Suélen da Silva Camargo; and fourth runner-up was Miss Osório, Luisa Bastos Nava. 30 women competed for the crown and the right to represent Rio Grande do Sul at Miss Universe Brazil 2012. 


MISS KWANDEBELE 2011
On December 17, 2011, Keletso Reminder Nkadimeng, 18, won the first annual Miss KwaNdebele pageant. Runners-up were Mmapule Ledwaba and Mimmy Skosana. 20 women competed for the title.
