Miss USA 2011 California's (by way of New Jersey) Alyssa Campanella is one of eight celebrity "chef-testants" taking part in Rachael Ray vs. Guy Fieri's Celebrity Cook-Off, a six-episode reality TV show that debuted Sunday night on the Food Network. The seven other celebs are Aaron Carter, Coolio, Taylor Dayne, Joey Fatone, Cheech Marin, Lou Diamond Phillips, and Summer Sanders. Alyssa is on Guy's team, along with hottie Aaron Carter.

DIAMOND MUSINGS

All week, Beauty School faculty have been able to talk about nothing else but the Miss USA 2011 pageant. Madge, the cafeteria lady, has even gone so far as to serve California rolls and salt-water taffy from the Jersey shore to both faculty and students today! Here are comments and musings about the 60th annual, diamond-anniversary pageant from some of our faculty and staff:

Dean Harris: "MUO finally got their history right! Historically, they usually f**k up their very own history, incorrectly identifying titleholders' names or the years they won. Also, it was wonderful to see so many former titleholders together and to see the tribute to the USO. And it really was a Northeast Corridor night - Alyssa is a Jersey girl at heart!"

Lorraine, Beauty School Librarian: "Where does Alyssa get her hair dyed? Goodness knows I have been looking and looking for that shade of red!"

Prof. Chandni - comment 1: "Please report to summer school, Miss Tennessee USA and Miss Alabama USA. You are as dumb as rocks. Please be advised that summer school is aboard the HMS Beagle, where you will devote your entire course of study to the scientific subject, repeat - scientific subject - of evolution. The course will include field work in the Galapagos."

Prof. Chandni - comment 2: As for you, Andy Cohen, you may be awfully damn cute, but you are to report to remedial Spanish class immediately. ¡Apuráte vos! Personally, I find it terribly embarrassing when Angela Visser can speak like at least 10 languages fluently and you can't even pronounce Ximena's name correctly! ¡Ay, que verguezna! I can only imagine what destruction you would do to such words as Tlatelolco or tortilla or Xochimilco! But don't worry, our remedial Spanish language teacher, who happens to be Angela Visser, will change all of that!"

Boris, Beauty School Security Officer/Bodyguard: "I would definitely do...um, I mean date Alyssa!"

The entire Beauty School faculty assembled in the faculty lounge on Wednesday night to watch the prelims online. Well, that is, except. Prof. Scribner. She had her book club that night - The Feminine Mystique was the book - and the special guest was Miss USA 1973 Amanda Jones. En tout cas, after the faculty's votes, these 15 emerged as pure BS faves! Prof. Harris goes so far as to say it that it could be a Northeast Corridor night on Sunday, what with New Jersey, District of Columbia, New York, Pennsylvania, and Massachusetts! (Photos: MUO)

THE UPTIGHT UNIVERSE

Mlive.com, 09-jun-2011, Aaron Foley: Fox News has an interesting tidbit about Dearborn's own Miss USA Rima Fakih, who has seemingly returned to normal pageant life after being kicked off a reality show earlier this spring. Apparently Fakih is being investigated and watched like a hawk because she partied too hard one night and nearly missed out on a press junket.

Fox News: Her attempts to “lie and cover up” the incident apparently prompted the Miss Universe Organization (MUO) to ask for security tapes to uncover the truth. “There was one night last week where she had some interviews the next day. First we thought she wasn’t at the apartment [which she shares in Manhattan with Miss Universe, who was out of town] and someone [from the publicity team] was trying to get her to the interview. She was sound asleep, and looked like she’d been out all night,” Shugart told us.

Who knew that Miss USA had such Secret Service-like treatment, and that doing things that normal 25-year-olds do -- like party every once in a while -- is supposed to have prior clearance? Apparently going out to party is against the rules, but the pageant didn't have a problem with Fakih fighting, cursing and drinking all over WWE's "Tough Enough" this season. So, why's the whip being cracked now? Perhaps the Miss Universe Organization needs some better exercises in showing their representatives how to handle the pressure of carrying the crown. And stop being so uptight.

MISS USA 2011 HOSTS

Los Angeles Times, 08-jun-2011: Dealing with drama queens is almost the same as pageant queens, so maybe it's fitting that Bravo's Andy Cohen is helming the 2011 Miss USA Pageant. But, really, when we first heard the words "Cohen" and "pageant" together, we had hoped an announcement was being made that there would be a "Real Housewives" pageant. Hey, there are almost enough iterations to make that a viable idea. Instead, Cohen will co-host the NBC event alongside E! personality Giuliana Rancic. The spectacle, which airs June 19, will take place at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas.
